Today was the first public conference in the framework of our project. This event was held in the interactive Museum “Russia-My History”.
The meeting was attended by several dozen people representing different media. Despite the formal meetings, the atmosphere was very friendly and informal. Many interesting questions were asked. It was incredibly nice to see so many completely different people who were genuinely interested in our project and came to meet me during there working hours. Let me remind you that Volgograd is my second homeland, my grandmother lived here for a long time.
It is very pleasant that the native city met so warmly the wandering traveler!
One of the main goals of the trip is to remind everyone about the Russian traveler Afanasiy Nikitin.
During the meeting, for the most interesting questions, I presented t-shirts provided to me by the “Russian Information Center“.
Below I give my most interesting quotes according to journalists:
“The great traveler Athanasius Nikitin is now undeservedly forgotten. How can I prove it? In every city I go to a bookstore and asked the book of his travel notes “a Journey beyond three seas”. She’s nowhere!”
“I plan to get to India next autumn. I carry Tver land there. Back I want to return by plane to Simferopol (Crimea), and from there – to Smolensk and Tver.”
“I always try to find a place where you can spend the night for free. I sleep in a hollow, eat Doshirak. In Volgograd I live at the local circus””
“The worst thing is when someone walks around the tent at night, grunts. Maybe it’s my nightmares.”
“Some people think I’m crazy, weird, but it doesn’t matter. On my page in social networks I write for whom at the moment there is a collection of money. And then – the personal moral choice of subscribers.”
“I’m coming. And you imagine that someone has spent all his life in a wheelchair, and thanks to you he will stand up and take his first step. It will be better than to come to India on foot”
I thank the representatives of the Museum for the invitation, for an interesting tour of the local exhibition and treats!
I also express my special gratitude to all the people in Volgograd who helped me find a place to stay and organize this wonderful event! Especially Maxim and Oleg!
