Circus in Simferopol is popular among both children and adults visitors. It has been operating for almost 50 years and in all this time it pleases visitors with new programs and numbers. Every year, a huge number of local artists and guest performers from different cities of Russia perform at the Tezikov Simferopol State Circus. Quite often, the circus of Simferopol is visited by tourists who come to the Crimea. According to tourists, the most positive emotions remain from visiting the circus, and children are always ready to return to it again.
The history of the Simferopol circus began in the autumn of 1959 — when the first stationary circus was built in the capital of Crimea. Up to this point, temporary circuses came to the city. Simferopol circus was built in the heart of the city and worked only in the summer, but soon the building was partially rebuilt and began to function all year round.
The first Director of the Simferopol circus was I. G. Weisfeld, but in 1962 the circus was headed by Boris Nikolaevich Tezikov, whose name it currently bears.
For more than 50 years of existence, the Simferopol circus has been visited by stars of the world circus art, people and honoured artists of the USSR: Leonid Yengibarov, Yuri Nikulin, tightrope walkers Tashkent, Lyudmila and Vladimir Shevchenko, Igor and Emil Kio, Pencil, Durov, Kornilov, Filatov, Irina Bugrimova, clowns Berman, Vyatkin, Margarita Nazarova, aerial acrobats and gymnasts Volzhansky and many other famous artists.
The circus auditorium is designed to accommodate 1,300 guests.
