In September 1911, the new Renaissance Bolshoi Art Theater was opened on Primorsky Boulevard. This significant event in the cultural life of the city was eagerly awaited by the Sevastopol public, as it meant the revival of winter theatrical life.
One of the most beautiful and majestic buildings in the city is the Lunacharsky Russian academic drama theater. It was built in 1956 in the classical style by V. V. Pelevin. The main facade of the rectangular building faces Primorsky Boulevard. With its 8-column Corinthian portico and monumental granite stairs leading to the terrace, the theater resembles an ancient Greek temple.
