Field of Mars is one of the largest park in the сentral part of St. Petersburg. Previously, this place was a swamp, which was drained by order of Peter I. Military parades were often held on the field, and it also served as a cemetery for some time, figures and victims of the revolution. By analogy with Athens and Paris, later the field was assigned the name Mars, emphasizing its militaristic past.
Currently, this site attracts young people and tourists, as it is located in the heart of the city, has an impressive size of the lawn, which is so nice to sit with many citizens enjoying the warm sunny days.
If you want and the weather is good, you can have a picnic on the grass, on the Field of Mars in the heart of St. Petersburg, during any of the city tours.
