The construction of the mausoleum of Khoja Akhmet Yasavi was carried out in the period from 1385 to 1405, and the architectural monument itself was erected at the behest of Emir Timur (Tamerlane) in honor of the famous Sufi (ancient Turkic) poet and preacher Akhmet Yasavi in the place where his modest tombstone was previously located. Tamerlane celebrated his victory over Khan Tokhtamysh, the ruler of the Golden Horde, by starting the construction of a new mausoleum on the site of the old and dilapidated one.
