… And in the Irkutsk region they know how to receive Indians. A unique on-line project to promote Russian travel products to the Indian tourist market has been successfully completed.
The project was prepared in collaboration with the Irkutsk Region Tourism Agency and the Russian Information Center in India. Experts from JSC “Russian Export Center” and Rossotrudnichestvo in India, TAFI (Travel Agents Federation of India) also took part in it. 6 hours of informational broadcasts were prepared and conducted.
RED Baikal – one of a series of projects Profi.Travel aimed at stimulating the development of inbound tourism in Russia. It is formed of two parts. A series of India Friendly webinars is addressed to tourist companies of the Irkutsk region and introduces the features of receiving tourists from India — from meals to the specifics of accompanying groups. The second part – online exibition Russia Expo Day Baikal – is designed specifically for Indian travel agents.
“One of the most difficult tasks in such highly specialized projects is to attract a relevant audience. The experience, professional training of our team, technical capabilities of the company and support of partners made this possible, ” says Alexey Vengin, General Director of the media holding Profi.Travel.
657 users registered as participants of the project, 257 of them were trained in real time. In total, more than 1,100 people visited the Russia Expo Day Baikal exhibition.
“We at TAFI, one of the largest travel associations in India, with more than 1,400 members across the country, are excited to partner with the RED Baikal event,” said Pradeep Lulla, acting and Vice President of Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI). In 2019, 90 thousand tourists from India visited Russia. I think this figure may increase many times. Of course, with the pandemic, growth is slower, but with the concept of India Friendly hotels, it will be easier for many tourists to make a decision to travel to Russia. In addition, it is worth adding that the facilitation and extension of visa agreements will also help to increase the flow of tourists from India to Russia. This is beneficial for both countries.”
The audience noted the high quality and uniqueness of the information presented during the India Friendly webinars.
“It was an interesting experience,” Ekaterina Slivina, head of the Irkutsk region tourism Agency, shared her impressions. We are all sure that sooner or later the borders will be opened. Now is the moment when we can reformat approaches and develop new meanings for the development of inbound tourism.”
47 organizations, including 15 hotels in Irkutsk region (Lake Baikal), were trained under India-Friendly program. All participants of the program received certificates of compliance from India Frendly.
“With our projects, we aim to help restore the incoming tourist flow to Russia after the end of the pandemic,” concludes Alexey Vengin,”and RED Baikal was one of the steps towards this.”
