India, is it far or close? It turns out that there is a piece of India in Volgograd! I was invited and very warmly welcomed in the Palace of Culture named by Yuri Gagarin – Olga Galtseva, she is a teacher at the school of Indian dance and Oriental plastics “Sitara“, at the Center of traditional Indian culture “Chand Sitar”.
Indian culture is known and loved in the cities of Russia, and almost every one of them has a dance Studio… I have never visited personally behind the scenes of such studios, and this was my first unforgettable acquaintance with the dance traditions of India.
The Studio has existed for a long time, since 1990 and trains fans of Indian dance of any age. Among the students there are children 4-5 years old and grown up girls. In India, dance is not just a set of movements, but a whole culture, sometimes even meditation. Each state of India has its own dances, and here they teach different: Bharat-Natyam, Kathak, Mohini-Attam, Manipuri, Odissi, folk dance in the styles of Gujarat, Rajasthan … members of the team study the culture, traditions, mythology of India, secrets of Oriental beauties, as well as draw, learn to sew costumes, make garlands of flowers.
Periodically, the Studio organizing performances, and you can also visit them, and make your way to the particle of solar India! And you can even invite this team to your corporate event!
Olga introduced me to her team, we talked about our trip, girls very interested in how it goes my way and expressed a desire to also visit India-the country of their dreams … And I hope that as soon as I get to India, I will be able to learn more about Indian dances, see how Indian girls dance and of course tell you!
