Location: Tver
Hello! Yes, this is not a joke. I am Walking from Tver to India. In the footsteps of the great Russian traveler Afanasy Nikitin.
On the trip I am carrying a little earth from Tver, from the foot of the monument to Afanasy Nikitin. I plan to pour out the earth in the place where according to legends the Russian man first entered the unexplored Indian coast. It will be a kind of reciprocal gesture of goodwill. Last year, when the 550th anniversary of Afanasy Nikitin’s journey was celebrated, an Indian-Russian motorcycle rally arrived in Tver. Indian bikers brought bags of earth gathered in the Indian city Revdanda and scattered it near the Tver monument.
I will try to visit all the main cities on the Volga, especially those visited by Afanasy himself. The event is unplanned, so filled with improvisation. The route goes along the Volga to Astrakhan, then through Azerbaijan, Iran and Pakistan. Such plans, as all, will depend on the fact we see and experience in the process of the journey. I will be glad to receive any invitations to visit and any useful advice. For example, if you know exactly what places to visit or what people to meet. Cheers!
