The Battle Cruiser Aurora, is the most recognizable and legendary ship in Russia, it has become a symbol and icon of St. Petersburg along with drawbridges and the most important architectural monuments, and this is why: Built under the last Russian monarch, this cruiser not only lived to see the revolution, but also played a leading role in it. Once under the command of the Bolsheviks, the ship was brought into the mouth of the Neva river, in the very center of the city, under the walls of the Winter Palace, the last stronghold of Tsardom, to demoralize its defenders. With a salvo from its guns, the ship initiated the storming of the Winter Palace, its fall, and the arrival of the era of communism in the country, which has written itself into history.
